The International Congress on Interculturality and Equity in Language Education (EUREDIE Congress- 2023) was held in Harbiye military Museum and Cultural Center, İstanbul on November 23-24, 2023. The congress was organized by The Coordinator and Partners of the ERASMUS + Project “European Researcher Development and Engagement for Interculturality and Equity” (EUREDIE) and hosted by the coordinating institution Istanbul University- Cerrahpaşa, in Istanbul. The opening ceremony was held by Prof. Dr. Sevinç Hatipoğlu, the director of the School of Foreign Languages and the head of the Foreign Language Education of Hasan Ali Yücel Faculty of Education at Istanbul University- Cerrahpaşa, and the project coordinator Dr. Yasemin Oral.
The congress featured three plenary speeches by prominent speakers with impactful research in their own areas: Prof. Adrian Holliday, Dr. M. Manuela Guilherme and Prof. Christiane Lütge. The two-day event was also a stage for 15 paper presentations reporting empirical studies looking into various aspects of interculturality and diversity in language education during three concurrent sessions at two halls each as well as two colloquiums with three presentations each on the topics of interculturality in new migration contexts and researching interculturality. The congress also comprised a special colloquium on the results and outcomes of the EUREDIE project with the presentations of the researchers of the EUREDIE consortium.

Overall, the congress turned out to be a great success with dynamic sessions, insightful discussions and networking opportunities and served as a platform for disseminating the academic knowledge and results generated during the EUREDIE project, by bringing together about 300 scholars, academics, researchers and pre-service and in-service language teachers. We would like to extend our gratitude to all speakers, moderators and participants for joining us and contributing to the success of the event.
